Influence of Digital Transformation on the Competitiveness of Industrial Firms in Strategic Sectors of Russia
Abstract
This article examines the influence of digital transformation on the competitiveness of industrial firms in strategic sectors of Russia. The objective is to identify the operational and strategic mechanisms through which digitalization affects firm performance under institutional and geopolitical constraints. The methodology is based on a qualitative and analytical approach, drawing on scientific literature, institutional reports, and case studies of industrial firms, including SIBUR. The results show that the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies increases labor productivity by 10–15%, reduces production costs by 3–9%, and improves product quality, generating significant economic effects. However, these impacts are conditioned by structural factors such as workforce skills, digital infrastructure, and public policies. The study concludes by proposing an analytical model to assess the effects of digital transformation on industrial competitiveness, contributing to a systemic understanding of digitalization processes in the Russian economy.
